The Environmental specialist (Janitor) is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the office premises and surrounding areas. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning tasks to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for employees and visitors. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean lab areas and sanitize restrooms, and break rooms.
- Sweep, mop floors.
- Empty trash bins, replace liners, and ensure proper disposal of waste.
- Dust and wipe down furniture, surfaces, and office and laboratory equipment.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaners.
- Refill and restock cleaning supplies, hand sanitizers, and other hygiene products.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs, such as broken fixtures or leaks, to the lab manager.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Lock and unlock buildings as required, ensuring premises are secure.
- Assist in setting up and cleaning meeting rooms or event spaces.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the lab manager.
Requirements:
- SSCE or equivalent preferred.
- Proven experience in janitorial or cleaning services.
- Ability to use cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuums, floor scrubbers, etc.) effectively.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety practices.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labour and lift heavy objects (up to 25 lbs).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
- Work may involve early mornings, late evenings, or night shifts.
